ELEPHONE P9000 Helio X20 MTK6797 2.0GHz 64bit Deca Core 5.5 Inch IPS OGS FHD Screen

If you’ve been feeling like your octa-core CPU hasn’t been keeping up with your standards, you’ll be glad to hear that MediaTek has you covered.  Back in May we saw MediaTek announce their upcoming deca-core Helio X20 processor.  A recent leak has revealed what may be the first device to carry the computing-monster SoC, the Elephone P9000.

MediaTek Helio X20, the processor with ten cores, in its architecture is going to have additional two ARM Cortex A72 cores to speed of 2.5 GHz that should bring improvement in the performance of the Cortex A57 that is used by the manufacturers of the eight core CPUs.

The interesting thing here is that the other eight cores are going to be ARM Cortex A53, four of which with a speed of 2.0 GHz and the other four with a speed of 1.4 GHz and will be used for doing the easy part because they have reduced power usage. Of course it is not really clear why use eight, when you have two super power cores, but from MediaTek say that this is going to be the most balanced processor on the market, in terms of usage and performances.

Helio X20 will continue to be made of transistors with a size of 28 mm, although, according to ARM, Cortex A72 should be made with a size of 16 NM to achieve the best performances.

Other rumored specs of the Elephone P9000 include a 5.5-inch display, 4GB RAM, 32Gb storage, 20.7MP camera, 8MP front shooter, dual-SIM compatibility with 4G functionality and a 3,100mAh battery, making it a competitive high-end design.. Given that MediaTek has mentioned that the MT6797 will be sampling to manufacturers in the latter half of 2015, an October launch window seems optimistic.

The P9000 could cost around $500 upon release and is expected to launch in various regions on October 20th. What do you think about this rumor?
